Creede OHV Club
Minutes of July 7, 2011

The July meeting of the Creede OHV Club was held at the home of Jim and Linda Martin and was called to order by Jerre Guthals, President, at 7:10 PM on July 7, 2011.  Jerre thanked the Martins for hosting the meeting and the members for bringing treats.  All members were welcomed.
A motion was made, seconded and passed to dispense with the reading of the minutes from the previous meeting as those minutes were emailed to members and are posted on our web site.
Linda Martin gave the Treasurer’s Report, reporting that there was income of $330 (from dues) and expenses of $427.91 ($10 for a corporation fee, $100 for COHVCO dues, $225 for COHVCO  membership dues, $15 for a refund to Jim Matush, and $77.91 for supplies) leaving a balance of $2,602.61.  Of the 43 members, 24 have renewed.
In Joel Clark's absence, Jerre informed the group that all trails are open.  All of the trees have been cut from Fern Creek Trail 815 and about half the trees from Lost Trail 821.
Jerre stated that there was very little participation in the June rides and asked for member input in choosing rides for July.  Three club rides for the month were discussed and scheduled as follows:
July 13th - Lost Trail - 10 AM staging at the 'Z' sign or 1/2 mile up river from Lost Trail Trailhead.
July 21st - Silverton - 10 AM staging at the 'Z' sign or 1/2 mile up river from Lost Trail Trailhead.
July 29th - Miners - 9 AM staging at intersection of FS Rd. 504 and FS Rd. 517 (Bachelor loop road and Miners Creek cut off)

Due to its deteriorated condition, a motion was made, seconded and passed to rejuvenate the 'Z' sign.
Jerre read an email from the Silverton Chamber of Commerce which stated "we now have a new staging area at Silverton Lakes Campground at the NE corner of town.  Riders can park their OHVs and walk a short distance into the business district.  Gas is available for sale at the staging area.  Also new this year is approval for OHV riders to use CR110A below the town’s cemetery.  This will allow a connection between CR 2 to CR 100, so one can complete another loop in San Juan County.  We hope that riders do not come into Silverton proper, as we would like to see these changes continue into future years."  All club members present were pleased with the news.
Old Business
The Adopt A Trail and Creede OHV Club signs have been installed at Fern Creek and Lost Trail.

Part of the grant that Jerre applied for was approved and the Club will receive funds to purchase a side by side Razor and a trailer.

The Forest Service has received grants for three trails; one in the Saguache district, and two in the South Fork area.  Dennis Vincent has yet to receive the grant money for the brochures.

Linda Martin has straightened out the confusion regarding the COHVCO membership dues.

New Business
Jerre passed out Certificates of Appreciation for volunteers of the Creede OHV Club to the members present.
