Creede OHV Club

Minutes of September 2, 2010

 

The September meeting of the Creede OHV Club was held at the home of Jerre and Connie Guthals and was called to order by Jerre Guthals, President, at 6: 32PM on September 2, 2010.  Jerre welcomed and thanked the members and guests for their attendance.

A motion was made, seconded and passed to dispense with the reading of the minutes from the previous meeting as those minutes were e-mailed to members.

In Linda Martin's absence, Jerre gave the Treasurer's Report, reporting that the balance was basically the same as the previous month leaving a remaining balance of $13,713.52.  This month a check for $11,263 will pay the first half of the amount owed to Arrowhead Trails Inc. and we will apply for the final half of the grant money from Colorado State Parks which will when received pay Arrowhead in full for their work on Lost Trail 821. Of the 56 family memberships, 40 have renewed and 16 have not renewed. Bob and Beverlee Westmacott have joined as new members.

In the absence of Joel Clark, the Club's Trail Supervisor Jerre gave the Trail Report.    Arrowhead Trails Construction has all but finished the work on Lost Trail.

In the absence of Penny Newman, Connie Guthals assumed her responsibilities for taking the minutes.  

Several rides for the month of September were discussed and scheduled as follows:  All rides leave Staging Area at 9:00 AM.

 

1. Sept. 4, 2010 to Lost Trail to Install some signs and have a Club Ride.

 

2. Sept. 8, 2010 to Lost Trail to inspect final work on trail and be involved in a Club Ride.

 

3. Sept. 16, 2010 to Bear Town and Stony Pass for Fall Color Change. This ride will include jeeps, ATV's and motorcycles.

 

4. Sept. 20, 2010 to Ruby Lakes on Fern Creek Trail 815 for a Club Ride.

 

5. Date yet to be decided to Carson end of Lost Trail 821 for Barrier installation. Also the Sign Bank needs to be installed at the Lost Trail 821 Trailhead.

 

Old Business

        1. Jerre suggested that members of the Club write thank you letters for the Forest Service support to Tom Malecek for Fern Creek Trail 815 and Lost
           Trail 821.

  1. Dennis Vincent   asked if any of the members present wanted to attend the ATV Safety Class.  Dennis will be scheduling the ATV Rider Safety class Sept 22, 2010 at the Seepage Training Area for our members and one for the Silverthread Club on Sept. 27, 2010. 

 

New  Business

 

  1. At the last meeting the current sample Club brochure was viewed and discussed, a motion was made, seconded and passed to request that Dennis Vincent pay for the printing of 500 copies of the brochure which he has grant funding for.  It is hoped that the brochure will generate more interest in the Club meetings and rides.
  2. It was suggested by Rex Mobley that there was lots of trash in and around Ruby Lakes and the Cabin and we should make arrangements to remove it while on the Fern Creek Trail 815 ride.

 

With no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:21
